About Us

New City Buffet has been taken over by John Tse. Prior to taking over New City Buffet, Tse owned another restaurant in New York that was honored with the “Top 100 Local Favorites in America” award at the Top 100 Chinese Restaurants Awards Ceremony in January 2011. He possesses nearly 20 years of experience in restaurant management and is looking forward to his new journey with New City.

The 6000-square-foot restaurant has been cleaned and renovated to ensure a more welcoming dining atmosphere and improved working conditions for the staff.

Spanish cuisine has also been added to the menu, joining the Americanized Chinese cuisine and sushi already offered at the former restaurant. Each dish is specially prepared and both the new additions and old stalwarts have been well-received due to their distinctive flavors.

Enjoying a huge surge in popularity since reopening, New City Buffet is poised to become a heavyweight in the city’s diverse dining scene. Its buffet bars feature such delights as Sesame Chicken, House Special Sushi, Ma-po Tofu, Hunan Tripe, Seafood Delight, Beef Lo Mein, Hunan Pork, and other sensational creations. Service at the restaurant has been upgraded too, helping further attract curious foodies.

Before Mr. Tse took over New City, it was about to go bankrupt, but he is confident that he can turn the restaurant around in the near future. Under his management, New City Buffet will bring a new, higher level dining experience to those looking for something out of the ordinary.

New King Buffet has entered this year’s Top 100 Chinese Restaurants Competition. Its prospects are looking good as the restaurant received a glowing review from Aboutface, a mystery dining firm that is responsible for scoring all North American entrants. Here are some excerpts from the foodies’ review.

First Impression
“The exterior and entryway of the restaurant were well maintained and inviting in appearance. The staffs were enthusiastic, genuine and sincere.”

Cleanliness
“The tables throughout the restaurant were clean and clear of empty dishes and glasses. The restrooms were clean, sanitary and well stocked. A Health Department Inspection Certificate was posted in clear view.”

Customer Service
“The servers were welcoming, smiling and making eye contact. A staff stopped by to ensure I had everything I needed promptly after my meal was delivered. Used dishes and glasses were promptly cleared from my tabletop.”

Food
“The food was good. The egg rolls were hot and crispy. The orange chicken had a good flavor and the coating on it was good. There were a lot of vegetables in both the fried rice and the Lo Mein.”
